Small Businesses and Corporations: The Environment

Everything that everyone does has a direct effect on the environment.  This is particularly true when it comes to businesses.  From production to the the consumer, the environmental impact can be stronger than you can imagine.  Small businesses have less impact than major corporations.  There is a big movement as of late to spend more money supporting the smaller businesses rather than the larger chains, mainly because of the environmental issues, some economical issues come into play as well but not nearly as much.

Mass Production:

When producing items on a mass quantity level, you can see several environmental impacts almost instantly.  The first hing you see is the amount of electricity and fuel needed to maintain the factory in which these items are produced.  The factory workers must also use fuel to get back and forth to work.  Burning this much fuel can cause a detrimental problem with the environment.  Transporting these goods to and from warehouses and stores.

Waste from exhaust and trash are another drawback for the environment.  Factories put out a record amount of trash each year and that nuber is growing with every passing year.  To make more stuff we make more trash.

Small businesses do not put out nearly the toxins and trash as larger corporations.  THis is one of the reasons that many people prefer to shop with small businesses.
