Small businesses are now expanding because of the recent movement towards supporting our local communities and the desires that stem from wanting to keep consumer fiances local. Supporting the larger corporations does not guarantee that you will be getting the best quality for your money. You might save money by purchasing things from larger companies, but the quality can be lacking, making your investment short lived.
In order to obtain larger profits, the larger business will contract their work overseas. This business practice is accepted worldwide and while yes, it is more profitable, the problem with this is that you are not likely going to be purchasing a quality product. Items that are produced in mass quantities are sure to be of lesser quality than those items produced by smaller companies.
Small businesses likely keep their business in the country. The reason for this is because they either prefer items made in this country or they cannot afford to produce on a larger scale. It is far more likely that they prefer to keep their production in th country. They most likely profit from the consumers because they do keep their production in the country.
Not all items produced overseas are of poor quality, but that is the general thought of most. The best quality items come from smaller businesses that do not produce in mass quantities. When companies buy materials in mass quantities, they buy the cheaper materials because they have to buy so much of it. Smaller businesses can afford to buy slightly more expensive materials because they do not have to buy so much at one time. The bottom line for all companies will be the profitability.
